I’m Ophidian Khan, a fantasy and flash fiction author, creator of The Serpent Scrolls, and writer of the Tales of the Snake Men saga. My storytelling journey began with a love of retro fantasy, 1980s cartoon villains, Masters of the Universe, and the strange power of transformation.
Over time, those influences became a way to explore deeper themes: identity, memory, inner conflict, corruption, recovery, and healing. My fantasy stories often follow characters wrestling with who they were, what they have become, and whether they can choose what comes next.
What began as a personal creative project has grown through public writing challenges, short fiction, and new opportunities to share these stories beyond the blog.
Fantasy, Flash Fiction, and Everyday Absurdity
Not every story must descend from the sacred scrolls.
As a fantasy and flash fiction author, I enjoy moving between mythic sagas and the quieter chaos of everyday life. Some stories explore transformation, corruption, and redemption. Others begin with an ordinary moment that takes one very strange turn.
Think of them as fables discovered on the other side of the mirror: strange, funny, occasionally wise, and sometimes armed with teeth.
Author and Storyteller
My mission is to craft stories that are both thrilling and thoughtful—tales that honor the past while daring to imagine what’s buried beneath. Whether through dark fantasy epics, surreal allegories, or a slice-of-life short with unexpected teeth. I believe storytelling is a sacred act of remembering.
As this archive grows, my goal as a fantasy and flash fiction author remains simple: create fantasy and flash fiction that is both entertaining and thoughtful. Some stories unfold as dark fantasy epics. Others take the form of surreal allegories, transformation tales, character-driven dramas, or slices of life that have wandered several steps away from reality.
Whatever shape they take, I believe stories help us remember, reinterpret, and occasionally laugh at the things that might otherwise haunt us.
Tales of the Snake Men
The Tales of the Snake Men saga is inspired by the mythology, characters, and pulp-fantasy energy of Masters of the Universe. These stories reimagine familiar villains as complicated characters with loyalties, wounds, families, and battles that cannot always be won with swords.
At the heart of the saga are themes of brotherhood, identity, temptation, trauma, and redemption. The characters may be serpents, generals, monsters, and would-be conquerors, but their struggles are painfully human.
Toy Photography Transformed into Living Myth
My work as a fantasy and flash fiction author also extends into visual storytelling. Much of the artwork across this site begins with original toy photography before being reimagined through editing and AI-assisted collaboration.
Plastic, light, and shadow become gritty comic-style scenes inspired by vintage fantasy artwork. These images help give visual life to the characters and worlds that inhabit my stories while preserving the physical toy photography at their foundation.
