I’m Ophidian Khan, a toy photographer and writer of fantasy, flash fiction, short stories, and fan fiction. My creative journey began with a love of retro fantasy, 1980s cartoon villains, Masters of the Universe, Power Rangers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
It all started with toy photography. What began as photographing action figures and writing short descriptions to accompany the images gradually evolved into something more. Those descriptions became flash and fan fiction, which led to longer stories and eventually the Tales of the Snake Men saga.
Today, photography and writing go hand in hand. Sometimes an image tells a story on its own. Other times, a photograph sparks an idea that grows into an entire short story. Through custom-built environments, 3D-printed creations, and a little imagination, I enjoy bringing familiar characters into new situations, often with a healthy dose of absurdity and dark humor.
My writing has also expanded beyond the world of action figures. Through writing challenges and experimenting with different genres, I’ve discovered that inspiration can come from almost anywhere. Sometimes it’s a fantasy adventure filled with danger and intrigue. Other times, it’s an ordinary situation that takes a strange turn.
I believe stories can entertain, inspire, make us think, and occasionally help us laugh at the things that might otherwise haunt us.
My mission is to craft stories that are both thrilling and thoughtful—tales that honor the past while daring to imagine what’s buried beneath. Whether through dark fantasy epics, surreal allegories, or a slice-of-life short with unexpected teeth. I believe storytelling is a sacred act of remembering.
